Cabaret artist Christine Eixenberger inspires in the Holzkirchner Oberbräu

From homeschooling to looking for an apartment to the shortage of skilled workers: the program that Schliersee cabaret artist Christine Eixenberger presented on Friday in the Holzkirchner Oberbräu delighted the audience.

Christine Eixenberger didn’t need that at all: She came on stage, applause was considerable, but still asked the audience – there were a good 200 visitors on Friday in the festival hall of Holzkirchner Kultur im Oberbräu – after briefly disappearing and appearing again in storms of applause to break out, which then happened.

But her cabaret and acting brilliance alone would have been enough to achieve exactly this effect.

Because after the two-hour satirical fireworks and home game won by a landslide, there was stomping and cheering.

The woman from Schliersee had to soften the new program "Freedom of imagination" a little, emphasizing the "easier" topics.

But it was often anything but easy, because in its merciless escalation it contained, despite all the comedy, some latent and open criticism of our society today and its constantly growing, completely normal madness.

Cleverly embedded in the two common threads of finding an apartment with a variety of weird characters and of course her domain school - after all, "Chrissie" is a trained primary school teacher - the 35-year-old showed that she has rightly worked both as a cabaret artist and as an actor in film and television has gained a regular place.

Dramaturg Sabine Schreiber and co-author Tobias Öller also played their part in this.

Even before the pandemic, being a teacher was no picnic, but later the demands on teachers reached unimagined heights.

It was not only in this number that Eixenberger shone as a brilliant actress who can switch to a wide variety of characters with their different temperaments, postures and voices in a matter of seconds.

The winner of the 2019 Bavarian Cabaret Prize also dealt with topics such as tourism in the Oberland, housing shortage, shortage of skilled workers, grievances on the real estate market, in the school system, in retirement homes and many more in a vivid and up-close manner.

Always with a tremendous joy in playing (she even flirts with her "desk belly"), intense, juicy, the characters are often surrealistically exaggerated.

Like her former student Simon, who was slow even then.

Now he's a customer advisor at her house bank, and he's just as slow.
