In the past, most of the stolen vehicles reached Tulkarem and Qalqilya, now it turns out that the leading destinations are in Ramallah and Jenin.
The sources of the stolen vehicle have also been updated, and the city of Modi'in is today the number one destination for car thieves, probably due to its proximity to the PA's territories.
The camps in the north also became a favorite of car thieves with the doubling of activity there.
The taste of the thieves matches well with the taste of the local market as 47 percent of the theft attempts are concentrated in recreational vehicles.
This year there has also been an increase in the theft of hybrid vehicles.
According to Pointer, in 90% of the total car thefts, a cellular jammer was used, which indicates organized and sophisticated gangs.
In 2021 the use of the jammer stood at about 80% and the increase this year stands at 12.5%.
At this rate, by the end of the year, almost all car thefts in Israel will have a cellular jammer activated.
The most common method of theft is still duplicating a "golem" key in the theft process, while connecting to an OBD socket through which you connect to the vehicle's computer.
The thieves encode a new key and delete the existing keys.
