What should the new Zornedinger station environment look like?

The municipal council has now set the course.

Zorneding

- Slowly but surely things are progressing on Zorneding's station forecourt: In February, the building committee dealt with the planning of the outdoor facilities and flatly rejected the design of the landscape architecture office (we reported).

Improvements were then made, which is why the municipal council is now dealing with the issue again.

"Cube" or "bean", between these two designs, the decision should now be made.

The names refer primarily to the arrangement of the green areas on the station forecourt in front of the new kiosk.

In February, the councilors unanimously wanted more green instead of dreary asphalt.

The "cube" design envisages several square planters, while the name "bean" refers to the shape of a green area that is to be planted with lawn and perennials.

Zorneding train station: The “bean” is the favourite

The "bean" quickly emerged as the favorite of the municipal council: "That's a clear improvement," said Wilhelm Ficker (free voters) and Moritz Dietz (Greens) also said: "It will make the station look pretty." He still had a few Suggestions for improvement in terms of pavement, lawn and bike racks.

For the latter, André Younes from the building authority wants to try to get a subsidy program.

Dietz also suggested that the guidance system for the blind should not only go to the top of the stairs, but further to the bus stop.

Mayor Piet Mayr (CSU) suggested asking the municipal disability commissioner Silvia Apel for an opinion on this.

Criticism of the draft came from Robert Strobl (CSU): "I can't get used to it." Above all, he criticized the so-called "arena pavement", which according to the draft should prevail on the square: "It's a stumbling block."

Marian Nowosad (SPD): "Just embarrassing"

Peter Pernsteiner also warned: "The pavement should be suitable for prams, trolleys and wheelchairs." Marian Nowosad and Bianka Poschenrieder (SPD) criticized the two separate ramps for wheelchair users and cyclists and announced that they would therefore reject the proposal, even if the two Ramps are a requirement of the railways: "It costs double the money and is just embarrassing," says Nowosad.

Poschenrieder asked whether the historical pictures of Zorneding, which adorn part of the noise protection wall, could possibly be moved, as otherwise they would be covered by the kiosk in the future.

That should be checked.

All suggestions for improvement were recorded in the minutes, ultimately the municipal council approved the "bean" draft with four dissenting votes and the mayor was authorized to award the contract.
