A look back at the first quarter of 2022 shows: Omikron had the district of Freising firmly under control.

There are high numbers of infections, but only a low vaccination rate.

District –

Even a good two years after the first corona case in Freising (February 29, 2020), the pandemic has not yet been overcome.

The past three months have been marked by contrasts: vaccination campaigns faced protest marches and the exponentially high incidence values the long-awaited easing.

A look back at the first quarter of 2022, in which the corona virus had the district under control: January 1: The RKI recorded 176 corona deaths for the district of Freising.

The first so-called “Monday walks”

January 3:

For the first time, the so-called Monday walkers meet a group led by Moosburg resident Klaus Lüchau in front of Moosburg town hall, who are campaigning for “solidarity in the pandemic”.

According to the police, the first encounter was peaceful.

For the Monday walkers in Moosburg, it is already the third action in which, according to the police, they walk through the city center "silently and without slogans".

January 3rd:

In Freising, around 300 participants demonstrated in the Marienplatz area for "tolerance and freedom".

The police have to intervene because some participants do not comply with the previously announced conditions, the "chairman of the meeting" is reported.

January 14:

The district's corona test bus is back on tour.

In the future, he will stop in Nandlstadt on Mondays, Hohenkammer on Wednesdays and Langenbach on Fridays.

Suddenly, the recovered status is only valid for three months

January 17:

Another corona test center is opened in Au.

Up to 240 tests can be carried out daily in a container facility on Hochfeldstraße.

The facility is open Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

January 17:

The RKI shortens the recovered status: Anyone who has survived a corona infection only receives the recovered status for three months.

So far, proof of recovery has been recognized up to a maximum of six months after infection.

Bavaria is following the path: With a booster vaccination, those who have recovered can receive the status of fully vaccinated.

January 19

: The Bavarian Administrative Court overturned 2G access restrictions to retail.

The state government reacted immediately: "We are completely suspending 2G in retail in Bavaria," says State Chancellery Head Florian Herrmann.

January 20:

The hotspot rule is suspended.

That means: Although the incidence in the district will soon exceed the critical 1000 mark, “public life does not have to be shut down,” according to the district office.

This regulation is initially valid until January 28th.

Omicron is coming: The incidence is beyond the 1000 mark

January 21:

The virus variant Omikron has broken through the 1000 mark of incidence in the district.

January 27

: Bavaria relaxes the Corona rules: the time for ghost games is over - 25 percent of the capacities are allowed again.

For cultural events, 50 percent is allowed (previously: 25 percent) - 2G plus remains the access rule.

January 27

: Unpleasant memories are awakened: Exactly two years ago, on January 27, 2020, the first corona case became known in Bavaria - the start of what was probably the most challenging months in post-war history.

January 31:

Due to a lack of demand, the Freising vaccination center reduces its times.

Also in the branch office in Zolling, only 50 vaccinations per day are offered because the 100 appointments are far from exhausted.

February 3:

With the preparation “Nuvaxovid”, a new vaccine against the corona virus is now available for adults.

It is a protein vaccine that STIKO recommends for people aged 18 and over.

The Novavax vaccine should be available from February 21st.

Now it's getting serious: Incidence exceeds the 2000 mark

February 4:

The seven-day incidence in the district of Freising exceeded 2000. February 8: Bavaria's pharmacies started the vaccination campaign.

February 9: Relaxation comes into effect in Bavaria.

The curfew in the catering trade will be canceled without replacement.

In culture, 75 percent of the places can now be occupied, in sport 50 percent.

In future, 3G will apply to hairdressers and nail salons instead of 2G, and there will be no contact tracing.

The 2G rule now applies in baths and saunas.

February 15

: The vaccination center on Pfaffenhofener Straße in Au is closed again due to a lack of demand: A doctor's practice will be relocated to the rooms of a former group practice from March.

February 15: The Corona vaccination bus is again touring the district to promote the vaccination campaign.

Bayern advances and relaxes

February 17:

Without waiting for the federal government, Bavaria relaxes the corona measures.

Contact restrictions for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered are eliminated, access to sport and culture is made easier, and the visitor limit in retail is reduced.

However, the mask requirement remains.

February 23

: In the fight against the corona pandemic, the drug Paxlovid comes onto the German market.

The first tablets go from the distribution center in Karlsruhe to wholesalers.

One million packs are planned for Germany.

March 1st:

Klinikum Freising lifts the corona-related ban on visits: Visitors are now allowed back into the hospital - under strict conditions such as a rapid antigen test and only one visitor per patient per day.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

March 3

: The new corona vaccine Novavax is used for the first time in the Freising district.

Bavaria's Minister of Health, Klaus Holetschek, is visiting the cathedral city for the premiere.

March 20th:

Relaxation in the corona pandemic: For elementary and special school students, the mask requirement at the seat is no longer applicable.

In addition, the general rules on contact restrictions are no longer applicable.

No relaxation, but now the mask falls almost everywhere

March 23

: Hanging game for the BRK: The contract for the vaccination center expires on May 1st.

The BRK will apply again.

Whether and how it will continue is still open.

March 28: Masks are also no longer compulsory for students in the fifth and sixth grades.

March 29

: Bavaria's cabinet has decided to end most of the Corona rules: from April 3, the mask requirement is to fall almost everywhere, and all 2G/3G rules will expire without replacement.

In schools, students must continue to test themselves.

March 31

: The RKI records 210 deaths in the county related to the coronavirus, the incidence is 1877.3.
