Presidential 2022: François Fillon supports Valérie Pécresse

2022-04-04T19:25:55.021Z

Unlike Nicolas Sarkozy, the former prime minister has been a strong supporter of the right-wing candidate since his victory in the LR Congress in early December.

Six days before the first round, Valérie Pécresse can be proud of having obtained a strong rally on the right, that of the former candidate for the 2017 presidential election, François Fillon.

The day after a meeting at Porte de Versailles where it was highly applauded, the former Prime Minister considers that

“Valérie Pécresse and the Republicans today constitute the only viable path towards this alternation.”

And to add that

"democracy is first of all the possibility of alternation and alternation is threatened when power camps in the middle of the extremes."

A support which is not due to chance while the leader of the right is anchored below 10% of voting intentions in most polls.

In an interview given to

Le Figaro

,

the LR leader warmly thanked him a few hours later:

“This support goes straight to my heart.

On the debt and on Islamist totalitarianism, his correct diagnosis is more topical than ever.

His struggles can be found in my project.”

Since her victory in the LR Congress in early December, the candidate has been able to count on the support of her ex-boss, who has kept a certain aura in the ranks of the right.

“Congratulations my dear Valérie Pécresse.

All my wishes of success go with you.

Go ahead and win for France”

, he had then wished at the end of 2021 to his former minister.

On this level, François Fillon therefore differs from Nicolas Sarkozy.

The latter having a hard tooth against Valérie Pécresse, he should remain silent until the first round.

Sunday, during the meeting at the Porte de Versailles, the name of the former President of the Republic was booed twice.

An incident that will not encourage him to come out of the woods by the end of the week.
