(CNN Spanish) -

These days it is very common to see the collaboration of artists with different types of brands and Snow Tha Product is no exception.

The Mexican-American rapper teamed up with energy drink company Rockstar for the track "Cobrar," in which she pays tribute to her roots and specifically her parents.

"

Cobrar

was born because I, being Mexican-American, have always wanted to represent people like my parents, who are immigrants, who came to this country to work, to give all their effort, all their commitment so that we could have a better life," Snow Tha Product told CNN Pop Zone in an interview.

"I wanted to make a song where I can show that effort and that we, the children of immigrants who came to this country, came to collect. We came to say 'hey, for all that work my parents did, I came to support them now demand that they finally give us what they owe us,'" adds the rapper.

In the song, Snow talks about how the children of immigrants seek to collect the fruits of the sacrifice of their parents' work, sometimes accepting jobs with poor pay, but all to support their families.

"Many times our parents came and had to have a job where they were not necessarily paid well, where sometimes they worked in the fields. I know that my family was in the fields, helping, that is, they found any type of job where sometimes they were paid very little. So what I have been able to do is say 'ok, I'm going to reach my goals, I'm going to keep going up, and now I'm going to be able to give money to my family or try to help,'" said the singer to Zona Pop CNN.

Why join this campaign?

In the music video for the song, other young Hispanics are shown who are building their future in the country.

For the rapper, this factor was important when she joined the campaign and created the theme.

She says that she wants to see real commitments from companies and not an attempt to reach a specific community.

"A lot of companies want to appear like they want to represent the community, but they really don't, they don't care," says Snow Tha Product.

"I don't want to be part of things that just want to appear. I want to be part of honest things," he adds.

He agreed to create this song because the proposal seemed to him to have come from an honest place, he says, an honesty focused on "trying to represent, looking for those answers that sometimes for such a large company can be difficult to listen to," he explains.

"The attention to detail, trying to find each person who represents the children of migrants, taking every detail and saying we are going to put that focus on it and represent it the right way."

Snow Tha Product's Musical Beginnings

Perhaps many in Latin America knew of Snow Tha Product thanks to her famous BZRP Music Session #39, a song that earned her and Argentine producer Bizarrap a Latin Grammy nomination for best rap/hip hop song.

The song accumulates more than 91.7 million views on Spotify and exceeds 162 million views on YouTube.

But many years before arriving at the Biza studio, the "Mexican with tremendous flow" was already making music.

In 2016 she released her album "Half Way There... Pt. 1", and since then she has released dozens of singles.

But the road was not always easy, he says.

"My beginnings in music were humble, it was doing shows with five people or with no one. Selling records on the street. The police took my CDs from me for selling on the street without permission. I've been through a lot trying to get there. to my goal," he says.

The singer says that she did not go to university but for that reason she always tried to improve herself to show her parents that this was the right decision.

"Now that everything is happening and thank God I'm doing well, it's like a way of feeling like this is why I decided to be an artist and thank God we're fine," he said.

One of the attractions of Snow Tha Product is that he masterfully raps in both Spanish and English.

How did you discover that he had an exceptional talent for bilingual rapping?

I started rapping in English, all my friends spoke English and I have always spoken Spanish.

So when I write a song and I put words in Spanish and everyone is like 'wow, you know Spanish, I didn't know!'

and it made me curious that people thought that I am Mexican, that my parents are from Mexico and that I don't speak Spanish," she explains.

For this reason, says Snow Tha Product, he decided to continue putting his bars in Spanish into his rap, to "teach them what it means to represent, what it means to be Mexican."
