After a jump in work stoppages in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the overall absenteeism rate (number of hours of absence compared to the number of hours worked) fell to 4 94% in 2021. As for the proportion of absent employees, it was 35% last year, compared to 42% in 2020, according to the results of studies carried out by the insurance brokerage specialist Diot-Siaci and the ifop institute.

But with 23.6 days of absence, the average duration of absences was longer by 1.1 days in 2021. And despite the vaccination campaign which now affects 80% of the population, no less than 44% of absences were related to Covid.
However, musculoskeletal disorders (15% of absences), psychosocial risks (14%) and accidents at work (12%) are, in total, the cause of almost as many absences.
