Amid the continuous decline in the popularity of US President Joe Biden and the high percentage of voters who reject his policies (especially the economic ones), Democrats' fears of his party began to increase with the approach of the midterm elections, according to what the American newspaper (The Hill) revealed.
The newspaper pointed to the impasse that Democrats are trying to get out of, with Biden's popularity continuing to decline as a result of his policies that had direct and adverse results on the US economy, as inflation reached its highest level in 40 years and gas prices witnessed an unprecedented rise due to the crisis in Ukraine.
The newspaper pointed out that a growing number of Democrats are concerned that they will lose a majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections scheduled for next November, and they are also concerned about losing the Senate, where opinion polls have shown a significant weakness in the percentage of support for Biden's performance in key US states such as Arizona.
After more than two years in which the American economy witnessed a major recession due to the Corona pandemic, Biden's escalatory policies in Ukraine and the sanctions he imposed on Russia came to cast a heavy shadow on him with the high rate of inflation and the increase in gasoline and food prices.
According to a strategic analyst in the Democratic Party, "Americans have lost confidence in the president," referring to the crises currently taking place in the United States, including the energy crisis and inflation.
Biden lost popularity among members of his party, as a recent poll conducted by the Pew Research Center showed that less than 50 percent of Democrats support the job performance of the US president.
An opinion poll conducted by NBC News last Sunday showed that Biden's approval rating among Americans in general reached 40 percent, the lowest percentage during his presidency, while another poll conducted by Marist College last week showed that 39 percent of Americans approve of Biden's performance.
