Ukrainian troops are pushing back Russia - especially in the suburbs of Kiev.

This is evidenced by images of destroyed Russian tanks in Irpin.

The front is probably shifting to the east.

Kyiv - Last week Russia had already announced that it would leave the Kyiv region - Ukrainian descriptions of the front in the Ukraine war* indicate a chaotic retreat.

“The Russian soldiers are withdrawing.

They have no weapons, no food - they just run away,"

Bild Online

quoted a Ukrainian soldier named Olexy as saying.

“We have a strong position here in Irpin.

We're moving forward," the 20-year-old continued.

Governor Oleksandr Pavlyuk also told the portal that Russian troops were withdrawing from the north of the Kyiv region towards Belarus.

As is always the case in an ongoing war, the accuracy of information on military movements is difficult to verify.

The fight could probably shift to the east of the country - around the city of Mariupol and the Donbass.

Chancellor Scholz announces new sanctions against Russia

The fight had also raged for three weeks in Irpin, a suburb of Kiev.

According to Ukrainian information,

at

least 200 people are said to have lost their lives.

Images of the war that are circulated internationally show suffering, death and devastation: burnt-out car wrecks, makeshift bodies buried, destroyed tanks on city streets.

Meanwhile, rescue workers are recovering wounded people from the basements of destroyed houses, apparently including old people, children and mothers.

Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz* spoke on Sunday in the face of the Bucha massacre of atrocities by Russian troops and announced new sanctions against Russia.

"The murder of civilians is a war crime," Scholz said at a press conference.

"We must relentlessly investigate these crimes by the Russian armed forces," Scholz continued.

The perpetrators and clients must be held accountable.

Weapons, missiles, machine guns for Ukrainian army

"We will decide on further measures in the circle of allies in the next few days," announced the SPD politician without giving any further details.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his supporters would feel the consequences.

"And we will continue to provide Ukraine with weapons so that it can defend itself against the Russian invasion." Domestic and foreign political pressure on the traffic light government is likely to increase further after Bucha.

The US Department of Defense also wants to send Ukraine additional weapons worth 300 million dollars (about 271 million euros).

Among other things, drones, missile systems, armored vehicles, ammunition, night vision devices, secure communication systems, machine guns and medical supplies are to be delivered.

The US has pledged $1.65 billion in military aid and arms supplies to Ukraine since the start of the Russian war of aggression.

Irpin: Sign of hope and symbol of resistance

Irpin is the largest city that Ukraine has been able to retake so far.

The success is a sign of hope and a symbol of the resistance of the Ukrainians.

Even if the Russian troops are gone, the situation in Irpin is still very dangerous, believes the young soldier Olexy.

Because there are mines everywhere that have not yet exploded.

According to media reports, Putin's troops are also retreating in eastern Ukraine.

Odessa, on the other hand, is apparently still being bombed.
