In 2021, France exported 30.6 billion euros worth of vehicles but imported 46 billion.
The sector has become a major contributor to the French trade abyss.
Last year, 1.38 million vehicles were manufactured in France, compared to 2.2 million in 2019 and 3.7 million in 2004.
