Easter Sunday is mid-April this year, but the weather forecast doesn't look very spring-like.

Munich – April does what it wants – the coming weeks will follow exactly this credo with regard to the weather and will be one thing above all: changeable.

Weather in Germany: Forecast for the coming days - cold break on Thursday

Meteorologists are expecting snow and stormy winds this week, and it will be uncomfortably cold.

The fight between warm air masses from southern Europe and cold ones from northern Europe is currently still causing an air mass temperature of 10 degrees at an altitude of 1500 meters, but this experienced a rapid drop to -7 degrees on Thursday.

This cold kink also has an effect on the ground-level temperature: on average, a maximum of only 6-7 degrees is possible.

However, the perceived temperature will be significantly lower, because wind with a strength of up to 80 km/h will blow through the streets in this country in the coming days.

Storm gusts are expected at higher altitudes and by the sea, but it can also get stormy at lower altitudes, as this video also shows:

Furthermore, according to meteorologists, after a mixed Wednesday, thunder and lightning will be in the house from Thursday.

Experts are expecting stormy weather in central and southern Germany on Thursday, which will turn into sleet on Friday.

Sleet thunderstorms are possible in many places.

The closer Easter gets, the colder it gets;

slippery roads, icy windows and above all frozen plants - even on the window sill - should accompany the Holy Week.

Weather in Germany: Forecast shows the risk of flooding in many parts of the country

Of particular concern, however, are the forecast amounts of rain that threaten to fall in the coming days.

Up to 120 liters per square meter are expected in central and western Germany, while in the north it will be wet and stormy at 90 liters per square meter.

In some parts of the country, meteorologists speak of no less than a risk of deluge, since precipitation of up to 180 liters per square meter is sometimes reached by the middle of the month - floods are possible.

Weather forecast for April - when will spring return?

According to experts, the forecast for April 2022 is being steadily revised downwards, and the coming weeks will definitely not be spring-like.

Broken down by cardinal points, the Easter weather can be predicted as follows:

• North: Masses of rain, some squalls on the coasts

• East: rain and severe cold

• South: Rain with 80 liters per square meter, in some parts even 160 liters - risk of flooding

• West: snow and sleet with peaks of maximum 10 degrees
