But what can we think of the statements and proposals of the ecologist?

As for the other presidential candidates,

Le Figaro

has verified several of Yannick Jadot's statements.

Anthology.

Politics: does unity make the left strong?

Union, a prerequisite for access to the Elysée?

Last September, Yannick Jadot regretted the division of the left.

If we go there divided, we have no chance of winning.

We will need a single application

, ”said the ecologist at the time.

A position challenged by Fabien Roussel: “

having several candidates in a presidential election has never prevented the left from winning

,” assured the PCF candidate.

So, who is right ?

Agriculture: is organic less subsidized?

Defender of organic agriculture, Yannick Jadot was offended last September by the way funds are distributed in France.

“France is the only country in Europe where a conventional farmer receives more subsidies than an organic farmer,”

declared the candidate, calling for “

change of agricultural model

”.

But was he right?

Energy: does renewables create more jobs than nuclear?

Opposed to nuclear power, Yannick Jadot advanced, in February, an economic argument to justify the development of renewables: "

renewable energies create three times more jobs than nuclear power

", declared the ecologist at the time.

An argument already heard in the mouth of Benoît Hamon, who indicated, in 2017, that “at

equivalent energy production, renewable energies create six times more jobs than nuclear

”.

Is right ?

Education: shorten holidays to improve student results?

Should French schoolchildren sacrifice part of their holidays to improve their grades?

In mid-March, Yannick Jadot said that he would not rule out limiting the duration of school holidays, if he were elected, indicating that “

all the countries which obtain better school results than us have fewer school holidays

”.

Is this observation true?

Does France grant more school holidays than its neighbours?

Energy: renewables, a solution to guarantee France's energy independence?

As a source of employment, renewable energy is also, for Yannick Jadot, the best solution for guaranteeing France's energy independence.

Renewable energies are the only energies for peace, security and independence,”

he argued in March.

A few days earlier, the candidate had underlined the imports of uranium necessary to supply nuclear power plants, taking offense at this dependence of France vis-à-vis foreign countries.

So, can renewable energies guarantee France's energy sovereignty?

War in Ukraine: Is Vladimir Putin a "

war criminal

"?

Yannick Jadot adopts a particularly virulent language against the occupier of the Kremlin, qualifying him, on several occasions, as a "

war criminal

".

"

Yes, Putin is a dictator and a war criminal

," he wrote on Twitter in early April.

What about legally?

Does the killing of civilians fall into the category of “

war crimes

”, or even “

crimes against humanity

” or “

genocide

”?

And, in practice, could Vladimir Putin and Russian leaders be tried?

Education: do French teachers work 42 hours a week?

While Emmanuel Macron promised a “

substantial increase

” to teachers in exchange for “

additional

” missions, Yannick Jadot assured him: “

There is no question of increasing the workload of teachers.

They are already at 42 hours a week

”.

Is this figure correct?

Renewable energies: France, dunce cap of the EU?

Close to Yannick Jadot, the unfortunate candidate for the EELV primary Sandrine Rousseau was moved, in February, by a visual of

Economic Alternative

particularly not very shiny for France.

This indeed showed the difference in percentage between the “

level reached in 2020 [of renewables in final energy consumption] compared to the renewable energy target set in 2009

”.

France came last.

If it weren't for our future, we could almost laugh about

it,” commented Sandrine Rousseau soberly.

But what can we think of it?

War in Ukraine: TotalEnergies, “

accomplice

” in war crimes?

For several days, Yannick Jadot has directly accused the tricolor giant TotalEnergies of being "

accomplice in crimes in Ukraine

".

For the candidate, the group "

helps to feed Putin's receipts and to finance the war in Ukraine

".

A “

shame

” for France, in his eyes.

So, does such a status exist in international law?

Is it applicable to a company rather than to a person, and in this case to TotalEnergies or to any French company which maintains an activity in Russia?
