January 6, 2021 left a deep mark on the United States.

The processes – and above all the masterminds – of the attack on the US Capitol are still being examined.

The central question is whether the then President Donald Trump incited his supporters to attack the power center in the capital.

The responsible parliamentary committee of inquiry also hoped to get clarification from Trump's daughter Ivanka.

The video survey of the 40-year-old began Tuesday morning and continued into the afternoon, committee chairman Bennie Thompson told CNN.

Ivanka Trump is not very "chatty, but she answers questions".

Thompson stressed that a subpoena was not necessary.

The appointment lasted a total of eight hours, sources said.

The investigative committee invited Ivanka Trump to a voluntary survey in January.

Her father's then-official aide was in the White House on January 6, 2021 when radical Trump supporters stormed Congress.

According to the investigative committee, she witnessed, among other things, a telephone call in which her father is said to have urged his deputy Mike Pence to prevent the certification of Democrat Joe Biden's victory in the November 2020 presidential election that day in Congress.

According to the U-Committee, during the storming of the Capitol, several White House officials also asked the president's daughter to convince her father to stop the activities of his supporters.

In a rousing speech on January 6, Trump called on his supporters to march to the Capitol and fight “whatever the hell”.

The right-wing populist also repeated his frequently refuted allegations that massive electoral fraud robbed him of a second term.

The storming of the Capitol with five dead caused horror worldwide and is considered a black day in the history of US democracy.

Time is of the essence for the Committee

The parliamentary committee of inquiry wants to uncover the role played by Trump and his entourage in the storming of the Capitol.

MPs have already spoken to around 800 witnesses - including Ivanka Trump's husband Jared Kushner just last week - and viewed around 90,000 documents.

Time is of the essence: Biden's Democrats could lose their majority in the House of Representatives to Trump's Republicans in the midterm congressional elections in November.

These should then end the U-Committee.

The committee of inquiry therefore intends to submit a report beforehand.

MPs could also call on the Justice Department to launch criminal investigations into Trump.

In early March, the panel accused the ex-president of a “criminal conspiracy” in a court document.

A federal judge later ruled that the 75-year-old allegedly committed a criminal offense by attempting to obstruct the session of Congress certifying Biden's election victory.
