From May, nine new destinations will be served from Lübeck Airport in the 2022 flight schedule.

These include many places that are not served directly from Hamburg.

Lübeck – Lübeck Airport has been around for more than a hundred years, but it was only with the arrival of the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair in 2000 that the regional airport gained economic importance.

The era of low-cost airlines at Lübeck Airport ended in 2016 with the withdrawal of Ryanair and the Hungarian airline Wizz Air. At the same time, Lübeck Airport had to file for bankruptcy and disappeared for years.

Then in 2020 there was a new start: for the first time since 2016, scheduled flights took off from Lübeck Airport again.

"Again, more holiday planes at Lübeck Airport" wrote Die Zeit, because Lübeck Airport is massively expanding its route network for the new 2022 flight schedule, reports 24hamburg.de*.

Lübeck Airport flight plan 2022: From May three times as many destinations as currently

From May, the 2022 flight plan will again fly from Lübeck Airport to sunny destinations on the Mediterranean.

This is reported, among other things, by the airliners.de portal, citing airport spokeswoman Stefanie Eggers, who told the German Press Agency (dpa) about the news at Lübeck Airport: “The offer is accepted.

Bookings are already going well,” says Eggers.

We are very pleased to be able to fly reliably from Lübeck to the Mediterranean Sea from the 2022 summer season.

This allows us to connect to the most popular holiday destinations six days a week.

The airline Sundair then joined the company Lübeck Air, a 100 percent subsidiary of the private airport Lübeck.

From May 2022, the airline based in Stralsund will serve popular holiday destinations such as Menorca (Balearic Islands), the Greek island of Crete or Antalya on the Turkish Riviera several times a week.

A total of 9 new destinations will be included in Lübeck Airport's 2022 flight schedule.

These supplement the existing offer for the destinations Stuttgart, Munich, Salzburg and Bern.

Lübeck Airport: Destinations away from Hamburg Airport – direct flights to Iceland too

As of May 2022, nine new routes will be added from Lübeck.

These include sunny destinations in Turkey, Greece, Spain, Sweden and Iceland.

The expansion of the route network at Lübeck Airport is also of interest to users of Hamburg Airport.

"We deliberately chose destinations that are not served directly from Hamburg*, such as Sardinia, Menorca or Ibiza," Eggers told dpa about Lübeck Airport's new strategy.

The new destinations that are served from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck* also include unusual destinations in Scandinavia.

From May, Bergen (Norway), Visby on Gotland (Sweden) and a direct flight to Iceland’s Keflavík Airport, the Scandinavian country’s largest airport with 30 destinations in North America and around 60 in Europe, will also be included in the 2022 flight schedule.

All flights can now be booked.

Incidentally, there are also three new flight destinations* in Hamburg.
