Elements of the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Damascus countryside seized a warehouse in Irbeen that was cheating with vegetable oil by mixing soybean, sunflower and corn oils.
Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Damascus countryside, Saer Shiha, explained that those in charge of the warehouse mix soybean and sunflower oil in certain proportions, and the packages are filled as 100 percent sunflower oil in the name of well-known brands, exploiting the price difference and selling them to citizens in what is called fraud with the same goods.
Shiha indicated that barrels of oil of unknown origin and quality were seized in the warehouse, in addition to empty iron and plastic oil cans purchased from the shops where she works, especially restaurants, to be filled with adulterated oil.
Shiha indicated that the entire quantity was confiscated and the violator was referred to the competent judiciary in cooperation with the police department in the area where the warehouse is located.
According to Shiha, a food packing company was seized in the Aqraba region, containing 4 tons of expired rice of Chinese origin, packed in 25 kg bags, and 43 tons of Portuguese and Spanish rice returned, prepared for sterilization and recycling, packed in 25 kg bags with a date on it. New production contrary to the actual production date.
Shiha explained that the necessary supply control was organized, the violating quantities were seized, and all necessary measures were taken against violators in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 8 of 2021.
