Two women who were raped and abandoned in Los Angeles died from being drugged, the coroner rules

Two women who were left unconscious at two Los Angeles hospitals by masked men late last year died of multiple drug intoxication, the Los Angeles coroner ruled.

Three men: David Pearce, 37;

Michael Ansbach, 47;

and Brandt Osborn, 42, were arrested in connection with the deaths, police announced.

However, they have not been formally charged in the case.

Los Angeles police said they were concerned there might be other victims "who may have been drugged by one or more of these men," police said in a statement at the time of their arrests.

At the time, police said the three men's cases were submitted to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for consideration.

On Monday, the district attorney's office told NBC News that it has requested further investigation of the case.

On December 17, Pearce was charged in another case that focuses on the sexual assault of four women between 2010 and 2020.

He was charged with two counts of forcible rape and one count of rape of an unconscious or sleeping person and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

He has pleaded not guilty to those charges, according to court records.

Pearce remains in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Center in Los Angeles on $3.4 million bail, jail records show.

Her next court hearing is scheduled for April 25 in the case of the four sexual assaults.

NBC News has reached out to Pearce's attorney for comment on the case.

Giles' husband, Jan Cilliers, previously told NBC Los Angeles that Giles and Cabrales Arzola had been out partying on Nov. 12 and when he checked on his wife's location the next morning, she was already in the emergency room in Culver. City, where he died.
