During the first quarter of this year, the Homs cattle station achieved profits of 50 million pounds, from sales of its production of raw milk and fattening calves.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Daher, the station’s director, confirmed in a statement to SANA that during the mentioned period, 442 tons of raw milk were produced, with an implementation rate of 97 percent, with a daily production rate of 5 tons, while the station’s production of meat resulting from the sale of calves and educational coordination reached 8700 kilograms of meat.

Regarding the reality of the herd between Daher, that the station includes 560 herds, of which 268 are dairy cows, and the rest is a sleeping herd, explaining that the station suffers from power outages, which increases fuel consumption and raises labor costs, in addition to the instability of the price of fodder and its continuous rise. Maintenance and rehabilitation of the pumping station on the irrigation canal in order to provide irrigation for the areas planted with forage crops, which have an area of ​​approximately 1050 dunums.

It is noteworthy that the station's production of raw milk last year amounted to 1753 tons, with an implementation rate of 104 percent, while the value of the profits achieved amounted to 90 million pounds.
