From May 1st there will be minor changes to the corona quarantine rules – also in Hesse.

This emerges from the most recent statements by the Federal Minister of Health.

The Federal Minister of Health is rowing back.

Karl Lauterbach wants to keep the isolation requirement.

What are the current corona rules in Hesse?

Wiesbaden/Berlin – Hesse will get new corona quarantine rules this spring.

On Wednesday (April 6th, 2022), Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach said in Berlin that he wanted to submit a new proposal to the federal states for compulsory isolation.

Its repeal on May 1 seemed to have already been decided before the SPD politician on Tuesday evening (April 5th, 2022) in the ZDF program "Markus Lanz" summarily rowed back - and thus found himself in need of explanation, as reported by fnp.de.*

Lauterbach tried to get clarification on Twitter that night.

At a press conference on Wednesday, the minister finally expressed remorse.

The initially planned end of the officially ordered isolation requirement for infected people was “a mistake for which I am also personally responsible,” he explained.

Instead of relying on “voluntary”, it should remain compulsory for people infected with corona to isolate themselves, i.e. to go into domestic quarantine for a limited period of time.

Corona quarantine in Hesse: These rules still apply

Lauterbach admitted that the relaxation of the obligation to isolate would have sent a "psychologically wrong signal".

He was concerned with “reducing the burden on the health authorities”, it said on his Twitter channel.

In order to defuse the situation in the health authorities, Hesse only relaxed the corona restrictions at the beginning of April.

Despite all attempts to limit the damage, there has been confusion about the new Corona regulations since Lauterbach's withdrawal.

The following corona quarantine

rules currently apply in Hesse

:

  • Anyone who has

    tested positive

for the corona virus (regardless of vaccination status) must be in isolation - a PCR is then mandatory

  • If the

    PCR test

    is negative, the isolation ends

  • If the

    PCR test is

    positive

    , isolation lasts 10 days

  • A

    free

test is possible from the 7th day after the first positive test (rapid test or PCR)

  • If the PCR test is positive,

    contact persons

must also be in quarantine (exceptions apply to vaccinated people and genesis, the state of Hesse provides a detailed overview)

This is how the corona quarantine rules will be in Hesse from May: Isolation will be maintained

According to Karl Lauterbach, the following quarantine rules should then apply from May 1st – probably also in Hesse:

  • A quarantine regulation only applies to

    infected people

  • Contact persons

no longer have to be in quarantine, but there is an urgent recommendation to isolate yourself

  • The

    duration

of the quarantine is reduced to five days instead of seven, after five days infected people can test themselves freely

Lauterbach rejected the question of whether he was thinking of resigning at the press conference on Wednesday (April 6th, 2022).
