Because thousands of refugees in Baden-Württemberg need a place to stay, the state wants to relaunch a housing subsidy program initiated in 2015.
We aim to relaunch the "Housing for Refugees" program if the agreement with the federal government on the distribution of refugee costs leaves the necessary financial leeway, Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) announced on Wednesday in the state parliament.
Stuttgart - "With the program we want to support the municipalities - as we did in the last refugee crisis - in the rapid construction of refugee accommodation." The program supports the municipalities in accommodating refugees with grants for the creation of affordable housing.

In addition, one wants to simplify and accelerate building law procedures and reduce the administrative hurdles in the construction of refugee housing, said Kretschmann.
A cut-throat competition between newcomers and those who can hardly find affordable housing must be prevented.
