With the start of the blessed month of Ramadan, the markets of Daraa Governorate are witnessing an abundance of vegetables and fruits within its main markets, amid calls by farmers and citizens to establish popular markets that sell products directly to the consumer without an intermediary, which contributes to securing the needs of citizens at reduced prices away from the control of traders and brokers.

Citizens also demanded the intervention of the Syrian Trade Corporation in the process of balancing the markets for vegetables and fruits by taking them directly from the farmer. Activating the popular market in the airport district and developing a plan to establish new popular markets that provide a variety of products at competitive prices.

Based on this trend, the supply family in Daraa called during its last meeting to find suitable places to create popular markets that are close to the citizens, in which products from the producer to the consumer are offered directly at discounted prices that meet the needs of the citizens and relieve them of their living burdens.

In a circular to the heads of administrative units, Daraa Governorate called for establishing popular markets and promoting Ramadan marketing activities to secure citizens' needs for vegetables and basic materials.

For his part, the director of the Syrian branch of trade in Daraa, Engineer Omar Al-Saadi, said in a statement to SANA that the branch offered 20 tons of Egyptian potatoes at a price of two thousand pounds per kilo.

He explained that the branch rented today eight tons of oranges from the production of Lattakia Governorate, and they were put up in the branch’s halls at a price of 900 Syrian pounds per kilo of the first type and 700 pounds for the second, indicating that the branch is working within its capabilities to secure all citizens’ needs of basic materials at reduced prices compared to market prices.
