Riot in Cuenca prison in Ecuador leaves at least 20 dead and 10 injured
These new disturbances of order in four prisons in Ecuador are recorded after a bloody confrontation between inmates occurred on Sunday in the Turi prison, in the province of Azuay, in the south of the country, and which left at least 20 inmates murdered.
After this riot, the Government decided to transfer five leaders of different criminal gangs from the Turi prison in Cuenca to the La Roca prison in Guayaquil to prevent interaction with other inmates and put the lives of more inmates at risk and of prison staff.
