Campaign calling on authorities to move to silent fireworks in favor of combat casualties and post-trauma sufferers (PR)
The beacon ceremony on the upcoming Independence Day will be held without fireworks in favor of the combat casualties, Culture Minister Hili Trooper announced today (Wednesday).
"My friends from elite units told me that for most Israelis the fireworks are beautiful images in the sky, but for them it is about the sounds of gunfire and fighting," Trooper wrote.
Trooper further decided that the Prime Minister will not speak and there will be no ceremonial entrance to the plaza, there will be a change in the distribution of tickets, some will be transferred to underprivileged populations, there will be wide access to the public at home and the ceremony will be dedicated to people with disabilities.

"This year," Trooper writes, "for the first time the ceremony will end a little differently and there will be no fireworks display. During the ceremony there will be no fireworks displays, only quiet pyrotechnics.
"Quite a few IDF fighters see the eve of Independence Day approaching and are already preparing to return to the battlefield.
Not because there is a war, God forbid, but because the noise of the exploding fireworks brings them back there.
A society that has mutual guarantee saves this pain from them.
They have already fought enough.
They have already paid a heavy price.
This year we are reaching out to them.
I call on all local authorities in the country to do so. "
