May 1st will be a celebration marathon in Wolfratshausen and the surrounding area: there are May celebrations in almost every community.

"We're all on fire," says one boy.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – There is a lot to catch up on.

After two years of the compulsory Corona break, a number of maypoles are growing in the district again this year.

In some cases, the boys' clubs in the individual communities had to coordinate so that not everyone put up a tree at the same time.

Many have already fetched their logs from the forests, accompanied by brass bands and spectators, in order to store them safely, plane them, sand them and paint them until May 1st.

The boys and girls from Ascholding were among the first.

Last weekend it was the Deininger's turn.

The Münsing-Ost ("Ouschner") fraternity and the lads from Lochen near Dietramszell have also put up their traditional sticks in front of the guard huts.

May celebration in Koenigsdorf

In the southern district, around Königsdorf, the maypoles are traditionally only taken down the day before May 1st.

They remain naked and are only decorated with a wreath of green branches on the day of installation.

According to Mayor Rainer Kopnicky, the municipality of Königsdorf decided to put up only two instead of the three trees due this year due to the density of May celebrations, namely in Königsdorf itself and in Schönrain.

Osterhofen is waiting until next year.

Peter Hofberger junior, Maibaummeister from the Königsdorf Civic Association, explains that they have also agreed on the days: In Königsdorf, the party will take place on Saturday, April 30th, in Schönrain on Sunday, May 1st.

May 1st in Egling: five celebrations in one go

The people of Egling are spoiled for choice.

In the greater community there is something to celebrate in the districts of Dettenhausen, Neufahrn, Dingharting, Thanning and Deining.

Simon Rass is head lad in Dettenhausen, where the lads' association will heave a white and blue stick into the vertical on May 1st from 5 a.m. on the village square with muscle power and shear poles.

From midday, visitors can expect grilled meat and beer, in the evening the May Dance takes place at the Oberhauser in Egling.

"We are 16 couples and are already rehearsing diligently."

May Day celebrations in Dietramszell: Ascholding, Baiernrain and Lochen celebrate

In Dietramszell, preparations are being made for the big day in Baiernrain, Lochen and Ascholding.

The Lochen-Linden lads' club was scheduled to do it anyway.

“Come on May 1st from 8 a.m. to set up.

We're looking forward to a cozy get-together with brass band music and snacks from 12 p.m.,” advertises Oberbursch' Josef Mayer.

Two maypoles for Münsing

There are festivals in Münsing-Ost opposite the Gasthaus Limm (already on April 30) and in Ammerland opposite the Hotel am See.

Martin Bartl from the "Ouschnern" says: "We are all on fire.

Finally something is stirring again.” Due to Corona, however, the boys’ festival planned for June with the district music festival in Degerndorf was canceled.

It is to be made up for in 2023.

With a tree, the Degerndorfers would have been there in 2021, but that too will be postponed.

Wolfratshausen: No May Day celebrations this year

There will be no Maigaudi this year in Loisachstadt.

The stump of the tree from 2018, which had to be shortened prematurely for safety reasons, is still standing in the Weidach district.

The boys wrote “In the home office until 2023” on a sign.

The Kolping family Wolfratshausen also had to cut their maypole at the old raft landing in 2021.

It was only installed in 2019.

A replacement will not be created this year.

May Day celebrations in Eurasburg

On May 1st from 9 a.m. there will be a lot going on at the Gasthaus zur Mühle in Beuerberg when the Beuerberg-Herrnhausen lads’ association grabs the shear poles.

Muscle strength is also required in the municipality of Eurasburg in Berg.

Icking celebrates May Day

The Ickinger can attend a May Day celebration in Irschenhausen or Dorfen.

According to Oberbursch' Kilian Schlickenrieder, the guard hut in Dorfen has been occupied since the end of March.

Traditionally, there is a week after May 1st, i.e. on the 8th.

The villagers don't feel like stealing one of the many other maypoles.

"We have enough to do ourselves with the guards and the painting," says Schlickenrieder with a laugh.

Geretsried: Egerländer Gmoi wants to put up a maypole

Despite the corona pandemic, the Egerländer Gmoi planted at least symbolic trees on Karl-Lederer-Platz in Geretsried in 2020 and 2021.

This year the tree - at the new location between the town hall and the Osiander bookstore, in the new frame - is supposed to be "really big", as Helmut Hahn from Gmoi announces.

The spruce is freshly cut on May 1st, shaved, i.e. debarked, and set up by hand from around 8 a.m.

The people of Egerland are also “very hot” to party, says Hahn.

A stage will be set up again on Karl-Lederer-Platz, on which the various Geretsried compatriots and traditional costume groups will show their dances.

In addition, the Gartenberger bunker brass band plays.

In the event of bad weather, the event will take place in the council chambers.
