Not abuse, but distrust was the focus of the discussion in the Reichersbeur parish hall.

The Kreisbildungswerk had invited to an event entitled “Church on the move”.

Reichersbeuern

- Nearly 20 guests from all the surrounding parish associations sat together with two speakers and Herbert Konrad from the Kreisbildungswerk.

It became clear that many old wounds had to heal.

Some experiences were exchanged.

Barbara Landler, chairwoman of the Reichersbeuern-Greiling parish council, described the way to the current management model in the parish association (PV) for general understanding: Deacon Joachim Baumann leads the PV, Pastor Quirin Strobl is the spiritual leader (we reported).

Landler complained about the lack of communication from the professorship.

This ruled beyond the local Catholics.

"The church leadership didn't trust us," said Landler, "we were presented with a fait accompli." Dietramszell was to take over the leadership.

In the end, the parish association won the model that had been found through democratic means.

However, the ordinariate only wants to allow this to apply until December 2023.

Landler and Baumann emphasized that new paths had already been explored under Pastor Scheiel.

He encouraged people to become ministers of the Word.

The Monday prayers for peace in Reichersbeuern, organized by different groups, attract people who don't attend the Sunday service.

"I want to support you in celebrating services," encouraged Baumann.

He confessed, "I'm discouraged by the way the church treats talented people."

Almost 20 people take part

Pastoral officer Anneliese Kunz-Danhauser from the church women's movement admitted that she had considered leaving.

But not right now, in the times of the synodal path.

As a young person in the KjG (Catholic Young Community) in the 1970s, she experienced rejection: The clergyman at the time said to the young people’s Bible exegesis: “You don’t understand that.” And she wasn’t allowed to become an altar boy yet.

There has since been a noticeable change.

But she hopes that the “ecclesiastical status order” between clergy and laity will be abolished.

Pastoral officer Florian Schuppe, diocesan contact person for the "Synodal Way", experienced alienation when he helped answer letters in the ordinariate.

"I wanted to call people.

Someone asked me if I really wanted that, I could be insulted," he said, still slightly stunned.

“The church must be able to listen.

Don't be afraid of fractures, don't be afraid of death, that's the Christian faith." If the church doesn't show that anymore, they'll lose trust.

Ute Wörle from Lenggries, who and her husband are very committed to helping refugees from Afghanistan, brought into the discussion that the zeitgeist is that everything is possible, belief is unnecessary.

Cohesion can give strength on new paths

Schuppe answered her that this is exactly what Christianity and the traditions need to convey again.

"Sickness and death have a place in the Christian faith." And the processions on Palm Sunday or Corpus Christi connect current topics: herbs, pilgrimages, hiking.

Schützengauhauptmann Beppo Schlickenrieder, who asked how things should go on, answered Schuppe: "Explain to the people what the Mother of God, your spiritual center, means to you." can give strength.
