In a broadcast, Bodo Ramelow, the Prime Minister of Thuringia, commented on arms deliveries to Ukraine.
He also shares his concerns about Vladimir Putin.
Erfurt - Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow trusts Russian President Vladimir Putin to use nuclear weapons.
In the program "#beisenherz" on ntv, the left-wing politician expressed concerns about Germany's role in the escalating Ukraine conflict.
One should not intervene so extensively in the Ukraine war that Russian President Vladimir Putin uses nuclear weapons.
In addition, Ramelow spoke out in favor of confiscating the assets of the Russian oligarchs more consistently.
Ukraine war: Ramelow can understand 'the logic' behind arms exports
Thuringia's Prime Minister said on the show that he could understand the logic of responding with war material in a war.
Ramelow, however, objected: "My only concern is that if we go straight into the war action, we will experience much more than what we are experiencing now.
That means that I trust Mr. Putin to use nuclear weapons.” Ramelow called for the sanctions against Russia to be tough and, above all, for the oligarchs to be put under pressure.
"I am in favor of really cutting off Russia's money."
Ukraine war: “No one in Russia is thinking about using nuclear weapons”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recently countered speculation that the Kremlin could use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war: "Nobody in Russia is thinking about using nuclear weapons, or even the idea of using them," he said in an interview.
Russia only resorts to the nuclear arsenal if there is a “threat to its existence”.
The existence of the state and the events in Ukraine have "nothing to do with each other".
Concern in the West about Moscow's possible nuclear weapons plans had already increased when Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian nuclear forces to be on high alert at the beginning of the war of aggression in Ukraine.
