The spring concert of the Isen brass band under a new conductor was a complete success.
Isen – The brass band Isen reported back with a varied program at their spring concert.
On the first weekend in April she was seen twice in the school gym.
"You only notice what's missing when you have it back," said club boss Regina Kellner when welcoming the audience.
Until the end, the musicians would not have known whether the months of rehearsals would culminate in a performance.
Since December, the members had been rehearsing and fine-tuning the program “with a lot of optimism”, as Kellner emphasized.
In some cases, they drove to Haag in the neighboring district of Mühldorf in order to be able to complete the overall rehearsals in a room with sufficient distance from each other.
Brass band Isen plays classical works up to the interpretation of modern film music
The work was worth it: At the start of the concert, the youth band, conducted by Franz Windshuber, powerfully demonstrated their skills.
The performance of the main band then proceeded almost seamlessly.
Conductor Marcel Schultheis, who has only been on board for a few months, set the pace here.
The strong expression with which the works were interpreted showed that the newcomer and the established formation play well together.
As usual from the Isen brass band, martially stirring pieces such as "Gonna Fly Now" from the film "Rocky" were heard as well as thoughtful ones.
The composition "Melting Giants" by Armin Kofler dealt with the retreat of the Alpine glaciers and ended with a lament.
There were some solo surprises on saxophone and vocals on Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street".
An 80s medley, an encore and finally a march ended the concert, which was rewarded with thunderous applause from the audience.
