Scientists have presented a preserved leg in an amazing dinosaur condition.

The limb, which still has skin on it, is one of the unusual finds unearthed at the Tanis fossil site in the state of North Dakota in the United States, the BBC reported this morning (Thursday).

However, the amazing condition of the leg is not the finding that revolved around the heads of scientists - but an explanation that the creatures discovered in tennis were found dead and preserved the day a giant asteroid hit Earth 66 million years ago.

That day the rule of the dinosaurs ended, and the rise of mammals began.

Very few dinosaur remains have been found so far in rocks that mostly document the last few thousand years before the impact.

The fact that a sample was found from the disaster itself would be immense.

Massive extinction

In addition to the pilgrimage, fish fossils were also found that apparently breathed the debris that was dumped from the sky in the asteroid's impact.

A remnant of the asteroid itself was probably also found.

"We found so many details on this site that tell us what happened moment by moment, it's almost like watching a movie. Looking at fossils and rocks, and going back to the day it happened," said Robert de Palma, a student at the University of Manchester in the UK who leads the excavation at Tennis.

The prevailing explanation today is that a 12 km wide space rock has hit the Earth and caused the last massive extinction in history so
