A gunman wounds three people in Philadelphia and then takes his own life

Two women were shot by a suspect who opened fire in the streets of the northeast of the city. After barricading himself in a house, the subject shot a SWAT agent in the abdomen.

Officers patrolling a Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood heard multiple shots near the intersection of Arrot and Leiper streets around 7:00 pm ET.

They found a man armed with a gun and chased him to a nearby apartment building where he barricaded himself, according to police.

At the same time, they found a 57-year-old woman and a 42-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to the hip.

Both were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Philadelphia Police SWAT teams surrounded the two-story building and exchanged fire with the suspect.

One of the officers was shot in the abdomen.
