The Syrian Trust for Development and the Together Initiative for Self-Sufficiency in As-Suwayda distributed today about 3,000 thyme seedlings to 300 families from 9 villages in the governorate.

The coordinator of the Mashroo3i program of the Syrian Trust for Development, Saeed Kahl, indicated to SANA reporter that the distribution is for the first batch of the current year and aims to spread the cultivation of thyme in As-Suwayda in coordination with the Mashroo3i program committees deployed in the governorate square with the aim of supporting the people in the targeted villages to carry out agriculture in a way that achieves their self-sufficiency from The production of thyme is in line with the orientation, support and encouragement of agricultural micro-enterprises.

Dr. Rabia Zahlan, coordinator of the Together initiative for self-sufficiency, stated that the distribution comes as a continuation of the distribution of 5,000 thyme seedlings last year, which included 15 villages, pointing out that during the coming period, new batches will continue to be distributed with brochures to introduce this cultivation and benefit from it in obtaining flowers and manufacturing home thyme.

The head of the Mashrou3i program committee in the village of Al-Kisib Adel Al-Matni pointed out that there was a previous experience with thyme cultivation in the village, which achieved a good percentage of success, which encouraged us today to go to benefit from the current distribution operations.

Meanwhile, Madiha Shaghlin and Fadia Nasr indicated that they obtained seedlings of thyme to be planted in home gardens, to benefit from them as natural products bearing health benefits.

During the distribution process, an introductory lecture was given on the Khalili thyme plant and its cultivation method, under the supervision of the engineer Fatina Al-Nimr.
