The month of April in Daraa governorate has enjoyed many popular proverbs that reflect the customs and traditions that were prevalent and demonstrate the importance of this month on the social and economic levels.
And April is one of the Gregorian months and its days are 30 days, and a large number of proverbs were said that are similar to the proverbs of the Bilad al-Sham region as one geographical area, according to Nidal Sharaf, a researcher in the heritage and history of the southern region, who explained to SANA reporter that Nissan is one of the months that the farmer al-Hourani depends on. The rain falling in it is evidence of abundance and yields, and its stagnation is evidence of the place and the drought. It was said in the popular proverb (Kanun is its solution and Nissan is its place), meaning that the farmer has good tidings in the month of Kanon and is afraid of the rain’s dwindling in April, and the drought will come after the abundance.
Sharaf said that the farmer Al-Hourani considers rain in April a great blessing, so he described the situation by saying (the April winter greets the human being) and (the April winter is equal to rails and acres), referring to the importance of rain in the month of April for humans and crops, especially wheat and barley, stressing that the month of April is a month It is believed that in this month the moon is associated with the star Pleiades.
He added that abundance comes in the month of April and a person dispenses with winter clothing, so it was said in the proverb (Is Nissan hiding your fruit and extinguishing your fire) and (Nissan with the taste of every hungry person and the warmth of every naked person), indicating that the month of April is the month in which the ears are filled with love? And Nissan rope) in reference to the fullness of the ears of love.
Sharaf emphasized that the month of April is the ideal month for wild animals, due to the abundance of pastures and moderation in the temperature.
