In a statement today during the resumption of the emergency session of the General Assembly on the draft resolution to suspend the Russian Federation's membership in the Human Rights Council, Sabbagh indicated that this international forum is witnessing once again the exploitation of human rights issues to serve the narrow political interests of some countries and create a state of polarization and politicization to target the Russian Federation under the pretext of dealing with the situation. humanitarian assistance in Ukraine, stressing Syria's keenness to ensure respect for human rights and the importance of providing the necessary humanitarian assistance to all crisis areas and at the same time rejecting any politicization of humanitarian issues and stressing the importance of adopting the principles of neutrality, objectivity and non-discrimination in human rights issues.
Sabbagh pointed out that this coordinated Western move to defame the Russian Federation has nothing to do with human rights in Ukraine or anywhere else. Sabbagh explained that the General Assembly resolution establishing the Human Rights Council affirmed that all human rights are universal, indivisible, interdependent and interrelated, and that all human rights must be treated in a fair, just and equal manner and with the same attention.
