The alleged murderer of Hugo Carbajal surrenders in Mexico

The man who allegedly murdered the teenager Hugo Carbajal with a broken glass bottle during a party in Mexico turned himself in to the authorities, the Mexico State Prosecutor's Office reported Wednesday night.

"The FGJEM completed an arrest warrant against Mauricio 'N' for his probable intervention in the criminal act of qualified homicide to the detriment of a minor victim," the Prosecutor's Office tweeted.

"The accused presented himself voluntarily, he is assisted by the presumption of innocence," added the institution.

Mexican authorities transferred Mauricio 'N', 38, to the Barrientos prison in the State of Mexico, the Milenio newspaper reported.

The arrest of the suspect occurs the day after Carbajal's family and friends demonstrated in the Mexican capital,

The parents, who have been camping in Naucalli Park to demand justice, had warned that they would block the Periférico again if the suspect did not appear within 48 hours.
