Damascus-SANA
The Director of Maintenance in the Damascus Governorate, Engineer Ghassan Al-Khatib, stated that the flooding of the Tora River course in the Al-Rabwa area in Damascus was caused by the rapid melting of the snows of the last season as a result of high temperatures.
significantly for several days.
The Director of Maintenance explained that the melting of snow led to a significant rise in the river level, which is one of the branches of the Barada River, in addition to the fact that the General Organization for Drinking Water drained the surplus from its warehouses within the course of the Tora River, which led to an increase in the river’s abundance and caused a flood in the Rabwah area for a limited time and the flow of water over highway.
Al-Khatib pointed out that the directorate's river workshops diverted a large part of the water of the Tora River to the course of the Barada River, and immediate treatment was carried out and traffic returned to what it was.
