This coming Saturday we will read in the synagogue the affair of a leper.

Rabbi Shai Tahan, head of the Shaare Ezra Kollel and head of the Arazi Lebanon Teaching House, brings in his weekly corner the famous midrash that gives us an important "tip" for those who want to live right.

The Midrash tells of an act by one peddler who was courting in towns near Birdy, and would declare and say, "Who wants to buy Sam Haim?", Many came to buy from him.

Rabbi Yanai sat and studied in our lounge and said to the peddler: "Come here and sell me," the peddler replied: "You and those like you do not need it."

Rabbi Yanai begged him to sell it to him.

The peddler went up to him, took out a book of Psalms and showed him a verse: "Who is the man who desires life and loves days to see good?", What is written next?

"Keep your tongue from evil and your lips speak deceitfully," said Rabbi Yanai: "All my days I would read this Bible and I would not know where it was simple, until this peddler came and informed me."

Rabbi Tahan explains that here lies the secret to a happy life - to keep one's tongue and not speak ill of those around one.
