The second vice-president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, sitting for the first time in a public act together with the leader of Más País, Íñigo Errejón.

The maximum representative of United We Can, who has spent months raising an opening speech of the political space that she represents, and her former rank-and-file partner have shown a clear "tune" this Thursday.

In full negotiation between the parties of the left for a broad front candidacy in Andalusia, the minister has presented in Madrid the commission of experts that will analyze the repercussion of job insecurity in the

workers' mental health, one of the commitments made between the department and Errejón's party to gain their support in the validation of the labor reform last February in Congress.

“I want to expressly thank Íñigo on my own and collective behalf, because in some way it is evident that politics is useful for things that matter to people and citizens,” Díaz pointed out in a room in the center of Madrid and before a motley audience. .

“Politics, far from being the art of possible things, is the art of the impossible and sometimes of what is very difficult”, he pointed out.

"Thanks to the minister for endorsing a proposal not as the result of a negotiation, but with enthusiasm, taking it far and working on it for the good of the majority", Errejón responded.

It was a mere institutional act, but the interest went beyond the scope it covered.

"How are relations with the vice president, in all kinds of agreements, but also in public policies?" Asked the journalist in charge of leading the event, Laura Olías.

The leader of Más País laughed shyly while Díaz commented: "It goes to the point."

And that for a political harmony ”, has reinforced the founder of Podemos, away from the party since the beginning of 2019. The deputy, comfortable on stage, has listed the issues that unite them.

“The reactionary offensive fills politics with noise, fear, and cynicism, and when there is no prospect for the future, nothing is worth caring about.

I believe this agreement and launching the commission is possible because we share that a stubborn and stubborn effort must be made to return politics to everyday life, ”he said.

In addition to contemplating a shock plan to control excessive working hours and abuses in part-time contracts, the agreement reached between the ministry and Más País in February included the "collaboration" on mental health and job insecurity, including the “participation” in the commission of experts with the appointment of a person.

The matter is not minor: Errejón's party has been putting the problem of mental health on the table for more than a year, which its formation considers a priority, and through the pact reached with Díaz and despite having only two deputies (plus one of Compromís) in a chamber of 350 representatives, has managed to assert its vote in the initiative.

This Thursday's act also takes place in the midst of negotiations, also between Más País and UP, to forge in Andalusia an electoral candidacy with a broad front in the face of elections, yet to be called, in which the popular Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla starts as a favorite.

And in the prelude to the start of the tour —for now suspended due to the crisis derived from the conflict in Ukraine— that Díaz wants to carry out to form a new political project for the next general elections.

The relationship between the vice president and Errejón is good, although it is fundamentally limited to the action of the ministry.

The co-founder of Podemos is very careful not to express, for the time being, a commitment that goes further: the addition of Errejón to a future project led by the vice president —something that remains to be seen— generates misgivings within his former party, although the official discourse of its leaders also rows in that direction.
