Update from April 7, 2:17 p.m .:
The weather in Bavaria is stormy, changeable and cold these days – but improvement is in sight: Spring will return next week.
But until then, there will be a few gusts of wind whistling over house roofs and through trees, it will rain widely, and even in the lowlands it will snow in some places.
A strong low-pressure system determined the weather in Bavaria on Thursday, as a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) explained.
The associated cold front should move in in the afternoon and reach the Alps at night.
"This is a narrow, very intense strip, there is definitely occasional heavy rain, and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out." According to the forecast, it will rain almost everywhere, and a heavy rain warning has even been issued for the Allgäu.
Hurricane gusts in Bavaria - "Then there is also snow, sleet and sleet"
The cold front also brings heavy gusts of wind, sometimes even hurricane gusts (see first report).
When the cold front has passed, the storm will calm down, but individual gusts can still be strong.
And just a few hours later, the next low-pressure system pulls in from France.
"That will keep us busy again on Friday with very unstable weather and sometimes longer and heavier rainfall," the DWD expert explained.
Depending on the region and altitude, it won't just rain: "There will also be snow, sleet and sleet, snow will fall in the mountains." The meteorologist summed up: "It's a fairly complex weather situation."
"Saturday and Sunday are then typical backside weather with short sunny spells here and there, but otherwise also individual sleet and sleet showers." The temperatures on Friday are 7 degrees in the Bavarian Vogtland and double-digit values in southern Bavaria.
Five to ten degrees will be reached on Saturday, with the Untermain being the warmest.
Light frost is to be expected across Bavaria on Sunday night.
weather change?
Next week over 20 degrees possible in Bavaria
Although up to 15 centimeters of fresh snow is expected to fall in the low mountain ranges and up to 30 centimeters in the Alps at higher altitudes, much of it should soon melt away again: "On Monday it will be noticeably milder with the influence of high pressure, the temperatures will rise back to double-digit values," announced the weather expert at.
"There are between 11 and 16 degrees in there." Tuesday and Wednesday should be really spring-like with lots of sun and temperatures above 20 degrees.
