Kaufbeuren – The “Bundeswehr Day 2022” planned for June 25, 2022 at the Kaufbeuren site has been canceled today.
This is reported by the press office of the South Department of the Air Force Technical Training Center.
"This decision is ultimately due to the current security policy situation in Eastern Europe," says Benjamin Dempfle, press officer at the training facility.
Under the motto "We are here", the Bundeswehr originally wanted to open their barracks gates to the population at 16 locations throughout Germany.
The dialogue with all citizens was in the foreground in addition to the presence of one's own skills.
The Fliegerhorst Kaufbeuren would have been the only air force location to host this day of the Bundeswehr.
It was also planned to include the school's 65th anniversary in the event.
The only Bundeswehr location where the event will now take place in person is in Warendorf in North Rhine-Westphalia.
"Unfortunately, the ongoing developments in the situation in the Ukraine conflict and the resulting follow-up orders to the Bundeswehr have led to an adjustment of this year's implementation concept for this event," says a press release.
understanding and regret
Of course, the members of the Kaufbeuren Air Base and everyone involved in the organization understand the ministerial decision.
At the same time, however, they regret that the presentations and demonstrations that have been worked out over many months cannot be put into practice.
"After such a long time, it was a great wish of all employees to finally be able to get in touch with the citizens of the region at the Kaufbeuren air base again," said the press officer.
