The expansion of the B 307 on the outskirts of Hausham had caused a stir.

As soon as the problem of the missing pedestrian traffic light was solved, fundamental complaints arose.

An interview.

Hausham – Why does the building authority need five months for 250 meters of road?

And why wasn't the piece expanded at the same time as the level crossing?

The editors of the local newspaper passed these and other questions on to Alexander Eisner (30).

The head of the area department for the Miesbach district at the Rosenheim State Building Authority explains the background to the construction site in an interview.

Mr. Eisner, couldn't we have completed the expansion last year?

Alexander Eisner:

The construction company was commissioned to relocate the level crossing in October 2020 to carry out the work between March and October 2021.

With the Büstra system, which combines road and rail traffic, the barrier closing times should be shortened.

Because of the Büstra system, the railway company decided to set up an electronic signal box to control rail traffic between Holzkirchen and Bayrischzell.

And because the work on the Westenhofen and Fischhausen-Neuhaus level crossings had to be carried out at the same time, a fourth construction site in the same period seemed too much to us.

Another traffic disruption on the B 307 would no longer have been justifiable.

Five months are now scheduled for this.

Is such a construction time common?

Alexander Eisner:

If it were only about the asphalt surface, it would have worked last year.

Such a renovation often only takes one night on the freeway.

But in Hausham it is about a full road expansion including many divisional works such as water, gas and power lines, fiber optic cables and rainwater channels.

This deep earthworks alone will last until mid-June.

New curbs for footpaths and cycle paths will be in place by the end of July.

Could you shorten this period of time?

Alexander Eisner:

The companies shouldn't stand on each other's feet.

In addition, we will only be blocking half of the main road until the end of July.

This means that the delivery traffic to the construction site is also stuck in traffic and the workers have to pay attention to the traffic.

The preparatory work in the constricted construction site is the biggest time waster in Hausham.

So would a longer full closure make more sense?

Alexander Eisner:

It would go faster that way.

But it's a matter of consideration.

The construction site should last as short as possible, but the traffic should only be affected as little as possible.

The full closure is scheduled for 19 days.

Alexander Eisner:

The duration of the complete closure is realistic for a full road expansion.

During this time, in addition to the asphalting, the paving work for the crossing islands at the petrol station and on Althaushamer Straße and the marking work will also be carried out.

The duration of the asphalting work itself is set at one and a half weeks.

This is necessary because the asphalt is divided into the base course, the binder course and the surface course.

In between, the adhesive is applied.

Allow 24 hours for cooling between each shift.

Because of the crossing aids, we cannot apply the asphalt over the full width of the lane at once.

How will traffic be diverted in the meantime?

Alexander Eisner:

The high traffic load is a special feature of the district of Miesbach.

We only have two gateways from the autobahn, the B 318 and the B 472. Detours are difficult because there is no dense road network and local roads are not designed for high detour traffic.

The Leitzachtal is a possible detour, but not optimal due to the length of the detour and the additional burden on the residents.

That is why a longer full closure with a shorter construction period does not work.

In Hausham one hopes for peace afterwards.

Alexander Eisner:

Probably nothing will have to be done there for decades.

It remains to be seen whether the schedule can be met despite the shortage of materials and staff shortages due to corona.
