Despite the enormously high inflation rate, individual products and services have even become a little cheaper.

An overview.

Wiesbaden - Everything is getting more expensive.

You've heard and read this sentence over and over again in the past few weeks.

The inflation rate* in Germany was 7.3 percent in March.

This is the highest value since reunification.

In February, the value was still 5.1 percent.

Inflation: Gas, oil, cooking oil and butter - These products have become more expensive

The Federal Statistical Office* publishes the price development of selected goods and services every month.

The data for February was last published.

The agency's report shows that gas and oil in particular have become more expensive.

But foodstuffs such as sunflower oil and butter have also risen in price.

But not everything became more expensive.

In fact, there are also some products and services that were more expensive in February 2021 than in February this year.

At the top of the list here are electric mixers.

These are now 5.7 percent cheaper than in the same month last year.

Matching the kitchen gadgets, baking mixes for cakes have also become cheaper (-0.8 percent).

Operating systems and other computer software are now 5.4 percent cheaper.

Inflation: Retirement homes four percent cheaper today

In terms of services, prices for old people's homes and similar facilities have fallen the most in a year.

Accommodation there now costs four percent less.

Wireless telecommunications services (-2.2 percent), home insurance premiums (-1.8 percent) and access to online services and the Internet (-1.3 percent) also became cheaper.

But the discounts in the single-digit percentage range probably do not catch the price increases in the double-digit range.

In particular, the costs for energy of all kinds have risen enormously - and consumers ultimately depend on this every day.

LPG costs 40.5 percent more, heating oil 40 percent.

Drivers had to pay 29.4 percent more for diesel than in February 2021, and super tankers had to pay 24.2 percent more.

Cooking oil (+28.9 percent) and butter (+20.4 percent) are also everyday products for most consumers.

The few things that have fallen minimally in price are probably just a drop in the ocean.
