The big party in Ismaning is canceled this year.
The community has canceled the festival week.
The mayor explains why.
Ismaning
– In the last few days, the rumor has been circulating in Ismaning, now it's official: the festival week will be canceled this year.
In the municipal council meeting, Mayor Alexander Greulich (SPD) justified the decision with a bouquet of reasons and comforted the citizens with the fact that there would be a series of festivities this year.
Greulich did not even go into the search for dates - in the meantime the folk festivals in Ismaning and Garching would have taken place simultaneously -, rather the municipality explains in a press release that "when all those involved meet in January 2022, no major event can be planned with certainty".
In order to be able to run a folk festival economically, it needs to be of a certain size.
"Showmen are currently concentrating on a few large festivals"
At the announcement in the municipal council, Greulich went on to say that the companies necessary for an attractive folk festival were having difficulties after two years of the pandemic.
"The smaller marquee companies and showmen are having a very difficult time right now," said Greulich, "the showmen are currently concentrating on a few large festivals." The companies lacked the strength to set up and dismantle a tent or the rides.
The municipality of Ismaning had a rather moderate range of rides and the amusement park in particular is an essential factor in getting the marquee full every day.
After the announcement of the canceled festival week, the mayor and municipality are now trying to look ahead with optimism.
Reference is made to a long list of festivities such as the 50th anniversary of the BRK readiness Ismaning, the may festival of the boys, costume market, beer festival, wine festival or the large-scale open-air theater.
"We won't stop thinking now," said Mayor Greulich.
He knows about the longing of the Ismaningers to be able to meet again and spend nice evenings after two years of pandemic and the great concerns about the Ukraine war.
It's just not possible at the festival week this year, maybe next year.
