The Italian confectionery group Ferrero is recalling other products after a Salmonella infection at a Kinder brand factory.

Berlin – The confectionery group Ferrero has extended its recall for certain Kinder brand chocolate products due to suspected salmonella*.

The recall now also applies to various Christmas products, as the food warning portal announced on Thursday evening.

Children's products were also recalled in the USA.

According to the food warning portal, the products are “possibly related to a salmonella outbreak”.

Ferrero Germany announced that all affected products can usually be returned to the supermarket without a receipt.

Bad mess: Christmas products are being recalled

The recall now also applies to certain batches of the surprise eggs Maxi Classic Egg Christmas and Maxi Pink Egg Christmas, the Mix Boots, the Mix Gift Bag, the Maxi Mix Plush and the Mix Table Advent Calendar.

The best before dates 04/20/2022 are affected.

The Italian Ferrero Group recalled certain children's products in several European countries on Tuesday.

Certain batches were affected, which were manufactured in a factory in Arlon, Belgium and distributed in France, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Ferrero spoke of a precaution.

So far there have been no confirmed cases of salmonella in Germany.

US market also affected

So far, there have also been no confirmed cases in the United States - but certain children's products have also been recalled here, as Ferrero announced on Thursday.

Ferrero added that the company is working closely with retailers to ensure products are no longer "available for purchase."

The group takes food safety and its commitment to consumer welfare "very seriously".

Salmonella can cause symptoms such as diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps and is one of the most common foodborne infections.

Babies, small children, the elderly and those with a weakened immune system are particularly at risk of developing a more severe course of the disease.
