Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that NATO is working to prolong the conflict in Ukraine by continuing to supply its regime with weapons, stressing that the alliance is already fighting against Russia for a long time in the hands of the authorities in Kyiv.

Commenting on the results of the meeting of the NATO Council at the level of foreign ministers held on April 6-7, Zakharova said in a statement today, “By continuing to provide Ukraine with additional weapons, NATO is paving the way for the prolongation of the conflict,” adding that “NATO is feeding the Kyiv regime with impunity for its crimes. The war and its cruelty towards civilians, not only in Donbass, but throughout Ukraine.”

Zakharova noted that "NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg shamefully refused to comment on the mistreatment of Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian militants," adding that turning a blind eye to the crimes of the Kyiv regime has become a norm for NATO.

Zakharova explained that in order to contain Russia, NATO is mobilizing its forces on the eastern side and continues to drag Georgia, Finland, Sweden and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region into its sphere of influence.

Stoltenberg had promised that NATO countries would discuss how to support Ukraine through advanced weapon systems after the authorities in Kyiv demanded that the alliance provide it with all the weapons and military equipment it needs.
