The number of people hospitalized with a diagnosis of Covid-19 increased slightly on Saturday, according to figures released by health authorities.

Hospitals are currently receiving 23,474 Covid-19 patients, compared to 23,404 the day before and 22,113 a week earlier.

However, this increase is not reflected in the intensive care units, which treat 1,543 patients with the most serious forms of the disease.

They were 1,554 on Friday, against 1,523 a week ago.

On the contamination side, pharmacies and laboratories recorded 141,690 positive cases in 24 hours, against 148,768 the day before.

The daily seven-day average, which smooths out statistical jolts, stands at 134,876, against 133,508 the day before.

It was 139,455 cases a week earlier.

The SARS-Cov2 virus is still circulating in a “sustained” way despite the shift in the curve of counted contaminations, Public Health France observed on Friday, unable to affirm “to date” that the peak of the epidemic rebound has passed.

The disease has killed 74 people in 24 hours in hospitals, bringing the death toll to 143,243 since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago.

Vaccination figures are very stable, with 79.5% of the population fully vaccinated.

The Minister of Health announced on Thursday that the second booster dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, hitherto reserved for people aged 80 and over, would be open to people aged 60 and over whose last injection dates back more than six months.
