The alleged atrocities committed by Russian troops in the Ukraine war in Bucha, Borodjanka and Kramatorsk have caused international outrage.

An expert sees a system behind it.

Kyiv - Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict and the invasion of Russian troops on February 24, the war has repeatedly provided horrific images.

The almost complete destruction of cities - as an example, the eastern Ukrainian port city of Mariupol.

Massacres in the Kiev suburbs of Bucha and Borodyanka.

On Friday (April 8) a missile attack was added to the Kramatorsk railway station in eastern Ukraine.

Thousands of people were waiting there to escape.

According to Ukrainian sources, more than 50 people have been killed and more than 100 others injured.

Ukraine war: Kyiv blames Russia for massacre – Moscow denies

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blames Russia for the attack.

The Russian side, on the other hand, claims that Ukrainian troops fired the rockets.

Similar situation after the Bucha massacre: Ukraine blames Russian troops for the atrocities committed against hundreds of residents.

Moscow denies this and speaks of a "staging" and provocation", but without presenting any evidence.

In Borodyanka, the situation is "much more terrible" than in Bucha, Zelenskyj said in a video message.

There are "even more victims" of Russian troops there.

The information cannot be independently verified.

The EU has blamed Russia for the attacks.

"The atrocities committed by Russian forces in Bucha, Borodyanka and other towns and villages recently liberated from Russian occupation by the Ukrainian army, as well as the brutal attack on the Kramatorsk railway station are part of the Kremlin's reprehensible tactics of destruction," shared the non-political spokesman in a statement on Saturday.

"The blatant attempts to disguise Russia's responsibility for these and other crimes through disinformation and media manipulation are unacceptable," it said.

Ukraine War: Expert Calls Alleged Atrocities “Part of Russian War System”

Eastern Europe and military expert Gustav Gressel from the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) also blames Russia for the attacks in the Ukraine war.

"Massacres like in Bucha or Borodyanka are part of Russian warfare," he told the

editorial network Germany (RND)

.

According to him, such acts have a system.

"You don't have to order the Russian soldiers to commit atrocities, they are already ideologically prepared to commit such acts," says Gressel.

The expert goes even further: "Russia wants to use ongoing terror to force the enemy civilian population to give up their resistance." There is no shying away from bombing schools, hospitals or kindergartens.

"Atrocities are not prohibited or sanctioned, they are wanted," claims Gressel.

"It is part of the Russian war system for soldiers to commit war crimes," he told

RND

.

Christian Marxsen from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law said it was not yet clear whether the atrocities had been ordered.

However, it is "quite conceivable" that the action against the population was tolerated.

"There is very strong evidence that war crimes were committed here," he also told

War in Ukraine: After a Butscha visit – von der Leyen sees action as a war crime

During her visit to Ukraine, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was shocked by the alleged war crimes.

She met the Ukrainian President Selenskyj in Kyiv and got an idea of the situation in Bucha.

Investigations are currently underway there.

"My instinct says, 'If that's not a war crime, then what is a war crime?

But I am a trained doctor and lawyers must now determine this carefully, ”said von der Leyen to journalists on Saturday morning on her return journey.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has called on the people of Ukraine to report suspected war crimes by Russian soldiers.

A separate website has now been set up for this purpose, he said on Saturday via Twitter.

"The accumulated evidence of the atrocities committed by the Russian army in Ukraine will ensure that these war criminals cannot escape justice," Kuleba said.

Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy accused the West of “soft” dealings with Russia.
