Two people died and five were seriously injured on Sunday in a bus accident carrying French and Spanish passengers on a motorway in northern Belgium, according to a police spokeswoman.

Twenty-two other people were more slightly injured in the accident of the bus, registered in France, Belgian federal police spokeswoman Sandra Eyschen told AFP.
The accident occurred at midday in the province of Antwerp near the town of Schoten and its exact circumstances are not known.
The red BlaBlaCar bus is lying on its side, windshield broken, according to photos of the accident.
The section of the highway where it occurred, towards Breda (Netherlands), was temporarily closed to traffic.
