Damascus-SANA

The Syrian Telecom Company is working on a project to study the use of FTTC technology, which means connecting optical fibers to the sidewalk, through which communication booths that provide communication services and the broadband installed on the sidewalks are connected with the mother center using optical fibers, provided that the last section remains towards the subscribers using copper cables.

In a statement to SANA's reporter, the director of the technical department in the company, Engineer Musab Al-Haj Ali, explained that the goal of this technology is to shorten the copper cable used to connect subscribers to a minimum. Optical.

Al-Hajj Ali added: It is possible to continue serving the subscriber using XDSL gateways based on copper cables in the shortest possible distance, which allows securing broadband services at high speeds without distorting the transmitted signals or lowering the specific speed imposed by the nature of the copper cables.

The optical cables, according to Al-Hajj Ali, are distinguished by the fact that they do not cause interference to the transmitted “optical” signal and do not reduce the speed with increasing distance, as they reach the FTTC booths with the required speed and shape, and from them to the subscribers through the short copper section, and this mitigates the negative effects as much as possible.
