Large hospitals in Germany are also at their limit because of the corona pandemic.
According to a medical association, emergency care is also at risk in some areas.
Berlin – The incidence in Germany is falling, but the situation in hospitals remains tense.
According to the Association of Senior Hospital Doctors (VLK), the majority of German hospitals are overloaded due to staff shortages and many Covid patients due to corona.
From the perspective of the clinics, the hotspot criteria are met in many places.
"Plannable interventions have to be postponed in 60 percent of the houses," said VLK association president Michael Weber of the
Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ).
In six out of ten clinics, the minimum staffing levels for nursing staff were undercut.
In three out of ten clinics, patients would have to be transferred to other clinics, including from large clinics.
Corona situation in Germany: emergency care is already at risk in two out of ten clinics
In the VLK survey, 20 percent of senior hospital doctors stated that emergency care was at risk.
A good 10 percent of the beds in general and intensive care units are still occupied by patients with a corona infection.
In view of the "tense situation", the VLK sharply criticized the corona policy of the federal and state governments.
"The pandemic is not over yet, and the increasing political dispute is endangering the supply situation," Weber said in a press release.
The Corona situation also leads to financial losses for the hospitals: “In this situation, the clinics can continue to treat significantly fewer patients.
The resulting loss of income must be compensated for by extending the rescue package, ”demands VLK President Weber from Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach.
