Beijing: Washington uses sanctions against countries to achieve illegal interests

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that the approach taken by the United States by imposing sanctions against the peoples and countries of the world has caused massive humanitarian disasters that destroy economic and social development in these countries.

Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in a statement today that the United States is the only sanctions empire in the world that has used sanctions as a tool to maintain its dominant position and to gain and boast of illegal interests, adding that the United States has no right to make people pay for its self-interest.

Legian called on the United States to stop creating chaos in Ukraine in order to achieve gains and to provide serious support for achieving peace in it through practical measures if it was sincere in its desire for a solution.

Legian explained that the United States is using the sanctions stick against Russia and deceiving Europe and pushing it to impose a complete embargo on Russian oil and gas to create opportunities for Wall Street financial institutions to snap up Russian corporate bonds.

Lijian reiterated that China has always been a maker of world peace and does not pose a threat to anyone. It is also a real contributor to global development and a strong defender of the international order, and will relentlessly follow the path of peaceful development.
