Fatal accident on B276: woman dies - man is seriously injured

A fatal accident occurred in the Vogelsberg district on Monday morning (04/11/2022).

Two cars collide in oncoming traffic near Schotten. 

Schotten – A woman died in a traffic accident in the Vogelsberg district of Hesse* on Monday morning (04/11/2022).

The 30-year-old driver died after a collision on a federal road near Schotten, the police said.

An 89-year-old man was seriously injured in the hospital, as reported by giessener-allgemeine.de *.

The vehicles of the two parties involved collided around 8.30 a.m. on the B276 between Schotten and the Betzenrod district.

According to initial findings, the 30-year-old was driving in her car in the direction of Laubach * (Giessen district) *, the 89-year-old drove in the opposite direction.

For reasons that have not yet been clarified, the woman's car got into the oncoming lane and collided sideways with the other car.

The 30-year-old succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.

The 89-year-old was taken to the hospital.

According to the police, both accident victims come from Scotland in western Vogelsbergkreis.

An expert should now clarify how the accident could have happened.

The B276 is still completely closed near Schotten due to the salvage work (as of 12 noon).

Police say the two cars are no longer drivable.

At that time it was a motorcyclist who, according to the East Hesse police, had gotten into oncoming traffic.
