Two counselors are now offering their help in the newly opened care base in Weilheim-Schongau.

They should support those in need of care as well as their relatives and thus close a gap in advice.

Weilheim/district

– It is a new point of contact in the district and closes a “very crucial gap” there, as district administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß put it: the Weilheim-Schongau care base, where two counselors now answer questions on the subject of “care”.

Now there was an official opening ceremony in the main office in Weilheim.

It is a whole series of positive adjectives that characterize the offer of the new care base.

This is, among other things, “neutral”, “close to home”, “individual” and “free”, according to the opening event at Schützenstraße 26b.

The services of the support center can be used by people in very different situations: when there is suddenly a great need for care, as well as when it comes to procuring a single aid - such as a walker or a bath seat - by those in need of care as well as by their relatives.

This became clear on the fringes of the opening event during a conversation with the consultants Lisa Jodl and Claudia Alterberger and with Stephanie Hör, head of the senior citizens' department at the Weilheim-Schongau district office.

Sometimes, it was said, a single phone call is enough to help someone seeking advice, in other cases several calls are necessary.

Nursing base also has a location in Schongau

The nursing base also has a location in Schongau (Münzstraße 48) and offers consultation hours and home visits.

It should bring clarity to the "care jungle", as Jodl said, and provide "timetables" to those seeking advice so that they can find the right contact person.

According to the district office, the advice center works with all facilities in the district “that deal with aging, prevention, rehabilitation, care and help with lifestyle”.

It is supposed to provide information about offers of help, but cannot arrange a care place in a retirement home, for example.

From the point of view of District Administrator Jochner-Weiß, it is important that the citizens of the district can spend their retirement where they feel most comfortable.

The care base will make a contribution to this.

The district administrator welcomed the fact that the counseling center in Weilheim is located at the specialist center for caregiving relatives of the Pfaffenwinkel-Werdenfels Alzheimer's Society.

This results in a symbiosis.

The new nursing base has four carriers

District President Josef Mederer pointed out in his speech that the need for care can affect anyone, even if they are unprepared.

Like the Weilheim-Schongau district, the district of Upper Bavaria is one of the sponsors of the new care base, which is mainly financed by the health and care insurance funds.

Siegfried Gemander from the AOK spoke as a representative of the health insurance companies at the opening ceremony.

He pointed out that in a society that is “getting older”, more and more help is needed.
